Custom Foot Orthoses - Terms and Conditions

Introduction

Thank you for choosing Hackney Podiatry for your custom foot orthotic needs. We are dedicated to providing you with high-quality and personalised solutions to improve your foot health and overall well-being. Before proceeding with the purchase of custom-made foot orthoses, please carefully review the following terms and conditions.

Definition

For the purposes of these terms and conditions, "custom foot orthoses" refer to specialised medical devices that are individually designed and crafted to address specific foot conditions and biomechanical issues. These orthoses are created based on the assessment, casting, and prescription provided by our experienced podiatrist.

Pros and Cons of Custom Foot Orthoses

While custom foot orthoses offer numerous benefits for addressing foot conditions, it's important to be aware of the potential pros and cons associated with these devices:

Pros:

  • Individualised Fit: Custom foot orthoses are tailored to your unique foot shape and biomechanics, providing a precise fit that supports your specific needs.
  • Targeted Support: These orthoses can effectively alleviate a wide range of foot problems, including pain and gait abnormalities.
  • Enhanced Comfort: Custom orthoses are designed with your comfort in mind, promoting a more comfortable experience during daily activities.

Cons:

  • Cost: Custom foot orthoses typically involve higher costs compared to over-the-counter alternatives due to the personalised design and fabrication process.
  • Adaptation Period: It may take some time for your feet to adapt to the orthoses, and you might experience initial discomfort during this period.
  • Regular Reevaluation: As your foot health evolves, periodic reevaluations may be necessary to ensure that the orthoses continue to meet your needs effectively.
  • Footwear Compatibility: Custom orthoses may require specific types of footwear to accommodate their design and thickness.

The Process

Assessment

  1. An initial assessment will be conducted by our experienced podiatrist to evaluate your foot condition and determine the need for custom foot orthoses. The fee for the initial assessment is non-refundable.

Casting

  1. A casting process will be performed to create an accurate mould of your feet using plaster of paris, ensuring precise customisation of your orthoses. The time frame between casting and fitting will generally range between 6 to 8 weeks.

Prescription

  1. Based on the assessment and casting results, a personalised prescription will be formulated to address your specific foot issues and requirements.

Fitting

  1. The custom foot orthoses will be fabricated according to your prescription and individual needs. Once ready, you will be scheduled for a fitting appointment.
  2. During the fitting appointment, our podiatrist will ensure proper placement and comfort of the orthoses within your footwear. Any necessary adjustments will be made to ensure optimal fit and function. Please note that any necessary adjustments may require the orthoses to be sent back to the lab for modification.

Review

  1. A follow-up review appointment will be scheduled approximately 6 weeks after the fitting appointment. This allows us to assess your progress, address any concerns, and make further adjustments if necessary.

General Conditions:

  1. The success of custom foot orthoses is dependent on consistent usage as prescribed by our podiatrist. Failure to adhere to the recommended usage guidelines may impact the effectiveness of the orthoses and any warranty provided.
  2. Any modifications or adjustments made to the custom foot orthoses by third parties, without the approval of Hackney Podiatry, may void the warranty and limit our responsibility for the product's performance.

Refund Policy

  1. Custom foot orthoses are personalised medical devices created to address your specific foot conditions. As such, all sales are considered final once the fitting appointment has been successfully completed.
  2. In the rare event that the custom foot orthoses are deemed to be significantly incompatible with your prescription or cause undue discomfort, our clinic will undertake reasonable efforts to rectify the issue. This may include adjustment, modification, or replacement of the orthoses.
  3. Requests for refunds due to dissatisfaction will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Refunds will only be considered under circumstances where the custom foot orthoses significantly deviate from the provided prescription or exhibit manufacturing defects that affect their function.
  4. Refund requests must be submitted in writing within 30 days of the fitting appointment. The request should include a detailed explanation of the issue. Refund requests can be emailed to sarah@hackneypodiatry.co.uk
